For Developers

Ship visual assets without a designer

You're an engineer, not a Photoshop expert. But you still need clean screenshots for docs, polished hero images for landing pages, and sanitized assets for blog posts. Peelaway handles the visual cleanup so you can keep shipping.

Everything you need to ship

From screenshot to production — clean, professional visual assets without context-switching to design tools.

Screenshot sanitization

Remove email addresses, API keys, usernames, profile photos, and personal data from screenshots before sharing in docs, READMEs, or bug reports. Safer than blur — the original data is gone, not covered up.

Hero image polish

That stock photo is almost right but has a distracting element. That AI-generated image has an artifact. Clean it up and ship the landing page — no design request needed.

Documentation assets

Screenshots for docs, tutorials, and guides. Remove notification badges, popup overlays, user-specific data, and UI clutter. The interface stays intact; the distractions don't.

OG image & social preview cleanup

Open Graph images and social cards with rendering artifacts, stray elements, or unwanted text. Polish them before they represent your project across the internet.

Icon & asset touch-up

App icons with edge artifacts after background removal. Favicons with aliasing issues. Small visual assets that need a final polish before shipping.

API-first integration

Three endpoints: submit, poll, download. Integrate into CI/CD, documentation builds, or asset pipelines. Process screenshots automatically before they hit production.

The missing tool in your dev workflow

You've automated your builds, your deploys, your testing. But visual assets are still a manual process — open Preview, draw rectangles over sensitive data, export, hope you didn't miss anything.

Peelaway is API-first and automatable. Hook it into your CI, your docs pipeline, or just use the web interface when you need a quick fix. The AI handles the visual judgment — what to remove, what to preserve, how to make the result look natural — so you don't have to.

Reconstruction, not redaction

Black rectangles scream 'something was hidden here.' Peelaway reconstructs the area naturally — the screenshot looks like it never had sensitive data.

More secure than markers

Highlighter overlays can be reversed with brightness/contrast adjustments. Peelaway replaces the pixels entirely — the original data doesn't exist in the output.

Works with any UI

Terminal output, browser windows, IDE panels, mobile screenshots, dashboards, admin panels — the AI handles any interface type.

Automate with the API

Hook it into your docs build, your screenshot pipeline, or your asset management system. Serverless — process 1 image or 1,000 with the same integration.

Frequently asked questions

Is this actually more secure than just blurring sensitive data?
Yes. A Gaussian blur or marker overlay still contains the original pixel data in the file — adjusting brightness, contrast, or using deblurring tools can recover it. Peelaway's AI generates new pixel data for the redacted area. The original information doesn't exist in the output image.
Can I integrate this into a documentation CI pipeline?
Yes. The API is three endpoints: POST /process (submit image), GET /status (poll), GET /result (download). You can add a build step that processes screenshots before they're committed or deployed. The serverless backend scales to zero between builds.
Will it preserve the UI layout and context of my screenshots?
Yes. The AI removes only the targeted content (personal data, notifications, etc.) and reconstructs the area to match the surrounding interface — correct fonts, colors, spacing, and component styles.
Can it clean up AI-generated images with artifacts?
Yes. AI image generators sometimes produce extra fingers, distorted text, or inconsistent details. Peelaway can remove these artifacts while preserving the parts of the generated image that look correct.
What about removing old notification badges and popups from screenshots?
Yes. Notification badges, toast messages, popup dialogs, tooltips, and cookie banners that were visible at capture time can be removed. The underlying UI is reconstructed from context.
